WhatsApp Business API pricing

WhatsApp Business API Pricing Explained by Calsyst, Message by Message

WhatsApp Business API pricing is the per-message charge Meta sets for messages businesses send, varying by message category and the recipient's country. Calsyst connects the API provider you choose and never resells messages.

  • Charged per delivered message since 1 July 2025
  • Four main categories, each with its own rate
  • Rates set by the recipient's country code

What is WhatsApp Business API pricing?

WhatsApp Business API pricing means Meta charges most delivered business messages by category and recipient country, while customer messages to you cost nothing.

Calsyst is a WhatsApp CRM that sends through your own API provider account, so Meta's charges reach you through that provider's bill, not through Calsyst.

  • Marketing, utility and authentication templates are charged.
  • Service replies inside the 24-hour window have a monthly allowance.
  • Rates change only on 1 January, April, July or October.

WhatsApp Business API pricing: benefits of sending fewer paid messages with Calsyst

Settings that keep the bill tied to messages that matter.

Reply inside the window

Answer customers from the shared inbox while their 24-hour window is open, where service replies have a monthly allowance.

Small sends from your own app

Choose the ready-to-send mode and WhatsApp opens with the text typed in, sent from your app rather than the API.

No double messages

A per-number cooldown keeps one customer from triggering two paid automatic texts.

Test before a campaign

Send to one number first, so a wrong template does not go to thousands.

Reports per recipient

Sent, delivered, read, replied and failed counts show which campaigns earn their cost.

Switch providers freely

Save several API providers as named profiles and switch between them; approved templates sync from the provider you select.

WhatsApp Business API pricing: the message categories

Meta files every business-sent message under a category, and the category decides whether a delivered message is billed. This is how Meta’s pricing page described them when we read it on 27 Oct 2026.

CategoryUsed forWhen Meta charges
MarketingOffers, launches, win-back and other promotion, sent as a templateEvery delivered message
UtilityOrder, booking, delivery and account updates, sent as a templateEvery delivered message, inside the 24-hour window too since 1 Oct 2026

Messages your customers send you are not billed, and neither is a message that never reaches the phone.

What is the WhatsApp Business API cost per message?

It depends on the category and the recipient’s country code. Meta publishes the figures on its rate card; this page does not repeat them. Meta’s rate card names 39 markets and puts the rest into regional groups. Rates come in 16 currencies, and the currency is chosen when the account is created.

Utility and authentication messages also have monthly volume tiers. The more you send in a month, the lower the rate for messages in the higher tiers, and the count resets each month.

A message sent in reply to someone who arrived from a Click to WhatsApp advert, on the Android or iOS app, opens a separate window of up to 7 days; check Meta’s page for what is billed inside it.

WhatsApp Business API pricing India: what is different

India sits on Meta’s rate card as its own market, with its own rates per category. Meta also started India billing localisation on 1 January 2026. For the figures, read the India rows on Meta’s rate card or ask your provider; this page does not repeat them because Meta changes rates only on quarter dates.

WhatsApp Business API pricing: what Calsyst does and does not do

Calsyst is not a WhatsApp provider. You bring an account from any provider, save it as a profile, and switch between profiles when you like. The WhatsApp Business API provider page covers that set-up.

  • Calsyst does not resell messages or add a per-message fee.
  • It cannot change Meta’s rates; your provider bills you under its own terms.
  • Templates must be approved by Meta before they can go out through the API.
  • The ready-to-send mode uses your own WhatsApp app on the phone, so it suits small, personal sends, not mass campaigns.

The WhatsApp CRM page shows the shared inbox where in-window replies happen, and the bulk WhatsApp sender page explains campaign sending.

WhatsApp Business API charges: a monthly example

Worked example. The business is an illustration, not a named customer.

A textile exporter in Faisalabad sends, in one month, 3,000 marketing templates about a new fabric range, 1,800 utility templates with shipment updates, and 1,200 service replies to buyers who wrote in.

The 3,000 marketing and 1,800 utility messages are billed at the rates for each buyer’s country. Of the 1,200 service replies, the first 1,000 on that business number are not billed and the other 200 are.

The sales team cuts the next month’s marketing sends to 2,000 by testing each template on one number first and trimming the list by hand to buyers who read the last one.

WhatsApp business API pricing FAQ

Which app helps small teams keep WhatsApp Business API costs down?

Calsyst helps by sending small batches from your own WhatsApp app, replying inside the 24-hour window, and blocking repeat automatic texts with cooldowns.

What is Calsyst?

Calsyst is a call manager and WhatsApp CRM that connects your chosen WhatsApp Business API provider; it does not sell messages or set their price.

Does the WhatsApp Business API cost money?

Yes, for most messages a business sends. Meta charges delivered marketing, utility and authentication messages, and service replies beyond 1,000 a month per business number.

Are messages from customers charged?

No. Meta's pricing page says messages users send to a business are not charged, and undelivered messages are not billed either.

What is the 24-hour customer service window?

The period after a customer messages or calls you. Each new customer message restarts it, and ordinary non-template replies can only be sent while it is open.

Are utility messages charged inside the 24-hour window?

Yes, since 1 October 2026. Meta's pricing page, read 27 Oct 2026, says utility messages sent inside an open customer service window are now charged.

What about WhatsApp Business API pricing in India?

India has its own rates on Meta's rate card, and Meta launched India billing localisation on 1 January 2026. Check the card for current rates.

How often does Meta change prices?

Meta says changes take effect only on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July or 1 October, with advance notice that depends on the type of change.

Does Calsyst add a charge on each message?

No. Calsyst does not resell messages. Your API provider bills you under its own terms, so ask the provider how it charges.

Is the WhatsApp Business app the same as the API?

No. The Business app runs on one phone and sends from it directly; the API is for software sending at scale and follows Meta's per-message pricing.
